Babies

Baby Emma | Seattle newborn photographer

On one of the last sunny mornings of our beautiful fall, I met with the Bethards family to document one of their last days as a family of three. Days of excitement, anticipation, joy, and perhaps a little anxiousness about the big changes to come. Katrina was positively radiant, clearly; and Audrey was full of the big emotions of a 21-month-old that were forgotten after a quick Snapchat interlude.

A few weeks later, little Emma arrived, and their beautiful family was complete.

She's here. And all eyes are on Baby Rosemary.

I knew I was at the right house when I showed up for the shoot because Max had made a sign for the door that said a big brother lived there. He was so sweet and attentive to his little sister during the shoot - helping feed her, giving her kisses, and whispering encouragement to her when she started to cry. And the look on his face when he held her - such pride. What a sweet start to their relationship.

Welcoming a child into your family is one of the most amazing things in the world. Entering the hospital a family of two and leaving the hospital a family of three. Becoming a father. Becoming a mother. It is magic.

My sweet friends welcomed their first baby, a little boy, into their arms a few weeks ago. I was thrilled to meet him and document one of their first days at home together as a family.

Baby Emerson

Now that my newborn days are over (my last baby girl is going to be one soon!), I appreciate each newborn session a little bit more. It is such a gift to be around these precious little ones, and throughout the entire session, I gush over every little sound and expression that they make. I can't help myself, newborns are so sweet!

Emerson's session was no exception since she is clearly one of the most beautiful babies on the planet. I also loved watching Olivia interact with her baby sister with curiosity and affection, and all of the real life "this is our reality with a newborn and two-year-old" moments make me smile. These are the pictures that will bring back the reality of these fleeting newborn days.
